Momentous × Jimmy Chin
Production sound for a Momentous video campaign with Academy Award–winning filmmaker and athlete Jimmy Chin.
Peter Prestrud is a production sound mixer based in Jackson, Wyoming (Jackson Hole), recording clean, dependable dialogue for documentary, reality television, commercials and feature film across the Mountain West and wherever the story leads.
Peter recorded production sound for Netflix’s American Murder: Gabby Petito. The three-part true crime docuseries debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s global English-language TV chart with 31.3 million views in its first week and reached the Top 10 in 90 countries. On set, he moved quickly between sit-down interviews and vérité-style coverage as the story unfolded, delivering broadcast-ready dialogue under tight, emotional conditions.
He has worked with Academy Award–winning director and athlete Jimmy Chin (Free Solo) on campaigns for KPMG and Momentous. He also recorded Emmy Award–winning actor Henry Winkler for In Depth with Graham Bensinger. Peter’s credits include Netflix, Hulu, The CW, Discovery, Oxygen, PBS, CBS Sports and Sony Pictures, along with NASA, the National Park Service and Budweiser. Producers rely on him for fast-moving, run-and-gun documentary and reality shoots.
With more than 15 years of filmmaking and over a decade on professional sets, Peter records with the edit in mind, delivering organized, well-documented tracks that give editors, audio post and sound design teams room to work. He is an associate member of the Cinema Audio Society. Depending on what a production needs, he works as the production sound mixer, boom operator, utility sound technician or A1 audio engineer, from intimate interviews to live broadcast segments.
His kit is built around the Sound Devices 888 recorder and SL-2 wireless module, paired with Lectrosonics wireless and microphones from Schoeps, Sennheiser, Sanken and DPA, the same tools trusted on theatrical features. Based in Jackson, Wyoming, Peter works throughout the state and across Montana, Idaho, Utah and Colorado, is ready for productions in and around Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and travels wherever the job requires.
